SSCP certification

Hi everyone,

I have completed CC certification and recently completed Security+ and GRC Mastery certifications.

My question is that is SSCP certification worth it and what advantage/edge would it give me in securing a job? Any preparation material that you folks suggest for preparing SSCP (in case if I proceed with it)?

"Worth it" for doing what? Getting a job? How often does "SSCP" appear in job postings that interest you?

I earned the SSCP in 2015, shortly after earning Security+. A few months after that, I found a new job. Neither certification helped me to get that job. The job had no certification requirements. However, having earned them showed my prospective employer that I was serious about growing in the profession. Incidentally, I found that the SSCP material covered all of Security+ with just a little extra. Maybe it has changed since then. I don't know. If you haven't yet met the five-year requirement for CISSP (assuming you even want/need it), earning the SSCP may be a good stepping stone toward CISSP.

I used Darril Gibson's SSCP All-in-Guide. However, I don't think it has been updated since he passed away a few years ago. I don't know how much of it applies now. I'd suggest downloading the SSCP Exam Outline from ISC2 and see just how much of it you already know. Then gear your studying to what you don't know.

Congrats on the pass! Its worth it even if you don't see it in many job posting its the knowledge you have gain.

I got the SSCP purely as preparation to take the CISSP later that same year (2008). I would says the SSCP is good to study, but if you qualify for the full CISSP certification then go for that. The CISSP (and Security+) is far more valuable as a criteria for qualifying for a first-round interview than the SSCP.
