Passed AWS Certified Security Specialty 6-March-2026

Failed my 1st attempt with 737 and passed on 2nd attempt with 814. I used the following materials:

- Stephane Maarek course on Udemy
- Skillbuilder practice exams

I made my first attempt at this exam a week after passing SA-Pro. I only used practice exams for those few days of study. After failing that attempt, I decided to go through the Udemy course and go through more practice exams. Working for years in security and having other similar certifications helps as well.

Congrats! I've heard from others that the AWS Security exam is one of the tougher ones. Did you find that to be true?

I found SA Associate and Pro to be tougher exams than security. But that might be due to having years of experience with security solutions going back to 2012 (firewalls, VPN, etc). The security exam only took me three weeks of focused study plus everything I learned from the months of SA-Pro prep.

Going through the full course after the first attempt clearly made the difference. Agree that relying only on practice exams can leave gaps. Your background definitely helped too.

I definitely thought it was worth trying to pull it off with minimal effort and got quite close. Since I had to wait 14 days for another attempt I figured it didn't hurt to actually follow a course.
