I wanted to share a quick milestone from my journey and maybe get some advice from people here as well.
I recently got selected at Aryaka Networks for a Network Engineer role. Coming from a learning phase where I was trying to figure out what direction to take in networking, this feels like a solid first step into the industry.
Before this, I completed a network automation course at PyNet Labs, which honestly changed how I look at networking. Earlier, I used to focus only on traditional concepts like routing, switching, and troubleshooting. But during the learning process there, I was introduced to automation, Python, and APIs, and that’s when things started making more sense in terms of how modern networks actually operate.
The transition wasn’t super easy. There were moments where learning programming alongside networking felt overwhelming. But sticking with it and doing hands-on practice helped a lot, especially with understanding real-world scenarios.
One thing I’ve realized is that where and how you learn networking really matters. Having structured guidance, practical exposure, and real use cases makes a big difference compared to just going through theory or random resources online.
Now stepping into this role, I’m still learning and trying to improve every day.
Would love to know from others here -
-
Where did you learn networking from?
-
Did you also transition into automation later, or start with it?
