We were reading about CIDR but couldnt find any information about the explanation.
Does anybody know how it exactly works?

These links should help. Essentially, it's just a different way of showing a subnet.

Also CIDR disregards IP class boundaries. So 192.168.0.0/16 is just as valid as 192.168.1.0/24
