auxulary port and telnet, routers

What is the difference between accessing a router via the auxulary port vs. telnet? Is the auxulary port a physical or a logical port? Please explain. thanks.

Its a physical port. To login via telnet you would connect to the router over the network. Logging in via the aux port would require a DB-9 to RJ-45 cable and you would use a terminal program, for windows Hyperterminal would be the program that you would want.

Console is used only for local managemnet, you need physical access to the router. To aux you can connect a modem, and make a dial connection to the router and from a router (DDR..)
