any know how 70-270 compares to the MCDST cert which requires 70-271 AND 70-272
Is it necessary if you successfully pass 271 and 272 to study for 270?

Ricka182 Member Posts: 3,359270 is called Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional. That entails more than MCDST, which is more help-desk/support orientated. You'll need 270 to pick up MCSA/E, unless you wanted to study the older 2000 track, you'd use 210.i remain, he who remains to be....

Megadeth4168 Member Posts: 2,157I guess I would also like more clarification on this certification... Is it worth getting the MCDST if you already are going for or have an MCSA or MCSE?

bighornsheep Member Posts: 1,506According to Microsoft, MCDST is more for technical support, and help desk jobs, whereas MCSA is more for system administration, and network support.
I decided to start with MCDST because it's cheaper, and easier to get (in my opinion). But eventually, by the time I graduate from school, I hope to have achieved MCSA. Besides, I could use MCDST as an elective to MCSA...Jack of all trades, master of none -
