    Think T1 but for europe!

    E1 is the same as the T1, but it is a European standard with a total throughput of 2.048Mbps. This connection is made up of 32 64Kbps channels

    E1 consist of 32 DS0-64kb channels with total speed of 2,048Mb.
    It is used for primary ISDN access (ISDN-PRI). Then its using 30 channels as B, 1 as D channel, and remaining one is eaten by overhead. That will give you 30B+D.
