do they really ask you the size measurements on the net+ exam?
i took a practice exam and one of the questions asked "how wide is a rack?"

are they really going to ask about specific measurements?

I don't know about the question, but a standard network rack is 19" and a standard telecom rack is 23".

I've been doing this for a very long time, and I was, at one time, in charge of cable vendors. This was something that I needed to know for my job.

The first time that you do a physical installation of anything in a server room the sizes will burn into memory or the first time someone says order a rack server and the sales person asks do you want 1U, 2U or 4U case size.

Oh that is the height 1U = 1.75 inches tall, 2U = 3.5 inches etc. Mounting racks are normally listed based on width in inches and xU's in height, so is commercial Audio/Video equipment. It does not surprise me that a subject matter expert updating the Net+ would hope that for example you knew that Cisco routers were mounted on 19 inch centers or a Dell or HP rack server. or a punch down panel in the building equipment room was 19 or 23
