Cisco's way of saying buy our new router/switch.

The certifcate program is really run by the advertise department.

That's what all company do. Not that there is any problem with it.

Well, I can't seem to find a "Cisco" page devoted to the change. Anyone help me out? I'm going to take the BSMSN in a few weeks, so I would like to know about all of the changes directly from Cisco. Thanks!

I emailed Cisco about this and this is the response I received:

Thank you for contacting the Cisco Career Certifications and Training Team.

Currently, we don't have any information on CCNP certification and exams changes. You may continue taking the current CCNP exams, as they will still count towards your CCNP certification.

Please visit the "What's New" page to check for updates in the future.

I'm sure Cisco's policy is not to discuss this until it appears offically on their website.Anyway we all know its changing, we all know the old exams will be valid for some time.I'm just curious as to when the change occurs, all indications i've seen still point to today, so we have to wait and see.
Now i'll have to consider whether to sit the CIT or the new QoS exam as i've passed the 642-642 there shouldnt be much extra to cover for the new exam. Anyway patience is all thats needed.
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

CCNP not changing in 10 years? Then why have tests been retired, and even existing test focuses changed?

I hope they don't start piling in so much stuff that it becomes overwhelming. After all, isn't that what CCIE is all about, getting more in-depth?

The basic structure of the CCNP certification program has not changed in 10 years. Although the tests themselves have changed and more added to some of them, the structure of Routing, Switching, Remote Access, and Troubleshooting has not changed.

Don't get your panties in a wad guys, continue studying what you are studying now. Like ed said, the current exams will not immediately retire. You'll have time. Cisco will tell you what the last date is that you can register for a certain exam. Just make sure you sign up before then.

Certification Magazine has an article on the rumors here.
This article makes it sound like a maketing guy has taken over certifications. icon_eek.gif

I thought they had sales tests that they could "align with their strategy of
the day - week - month - year."

If a techie was running the the program, they would just be adding exams
    -- I could see an 8 or 9 test CCNP. Grab the 551, 642, 661 611, and 432
(SND, QoS, BGP, MPLS, CVOICE). Yeah, that would be a nice new CCNP.
icon_lol.gif Plus with 9 exams -- then the CCNP would have both Quality and
quantity when compared to the MCSE icon_lol.gif

Hopefully the CCIE Certification group has gotten up their Dilbert Cartoon
Barriers to keep the certification marketing types out..... never have I
been more glad that the CCIE Cert group seems to stay separate from
    the regular certification group. :D

Does anyone have the URL to that CCNP Prep Center mentioned in the Article?

Second cup of coffee and it made sense. All four exams retire in december. New exams have new numbers obviously. Two exams have name changes BCRAN -> ISCRW and CIT -> ONT. If you take one of the existing tests by december it counts in place of the new numbers for three years from the date that you passed the first current exam. If we are to believe this then are they implying that the new exams have at least a three year life, given of course question pool rotation.

Boy they are really pumping the answers out now, almost up to 50.
Two of the messages indicate that 20-25% of BSCI and BCMSN have changed.

If you can't register for the old ones by Nov 15 then there is no hurry.
Changing a quarter of each test is pretty major probably killing most
of the existing study material except cisco.com

I just watched the video describing the changes. If you took an exam towards CCNP within the last 2 years, you can still use it towards the new CCNP.

If you passed: you can use it for:
    BCRAN..................ICSW
    CIT.......................ONT
    Old BSCI.............New BSCI
    Old BCMSN..........New BCMSN

Courses for the old tests go away 10/15, last day to register for old tests is 11/15, tests retire completely 12/31.

Until everyone gets up to speed, might be best to take official Cisco courses, or try and get the official courseware.
BSCI and BCMSN courseware moves to version 3.0, the other two are version 1.0 since they are brand new. They will focus on IOS version 12.4 of various routers.

grrr.........IS THIS TRUE I WATCH THE VIDEO and they will change the CIT and BCRAN almost 80% and added new technologies.

Anyway, that's how technology goes. Do you think do I need to continue studying BSCI I am scheduled on Sept 2006.

Do we also need to purchase this new routers? icon_sad.gif

They should be using the new courseware. Be sure it is version 3.0. You might want to call and ask before commiting, like maybe next week (giving them time to update their records).
Even if it is still old courseware though, you have until November 15 to pass the test based on the old course, and it can still be used towards CCNP as was stated in the video.

11/15 is 90 days away from today. You have until then to pass these tests. I think you can even register for them by 11/30 for a test day as far as 12/31. Be sure to pass though, since if you don't, you won't be able to schedule a retake.

I visited the websites of a few test centers, it looks like they are already geared up for the new courseware. Those of us that are self-studying with third party study guides that are going to be stuck for a while.
Anyone know where to get the courseware books?

    Study like the wind!! icon_lol.gif

Nothing like impending exam changes to motivate for studying!

Hopefully when all the dust settles on all the new information, you'll have more than November or December 15th to register/finish the exams.

Now I don't feel so bad -- the 6 months or so for the CCIE Security Lab changes now seems like an eon of warnings! icon_cool.gif

Whoa! It seems they have toasted the Cisco Certification Tracking Systems....

It seems since they added the new CCNP exams -- almost any professional exam updates all Certifications!

According to the Cert Tracking Website -- my last CCVP exam recertified all my other Professional level certifications! My head hurts! icon_confused.gif

Yes, they did change the recertification requirement. ANY 642 exam will re-certify you.
