Not to long ago I finished college and got my first cert A+. I really want a career in IT, that's pretty much all I want to do in life. I'm wondering what should I do next. Right now i have a diploma in Computer Information Systems and my A+ cert. I need help deciding what to do to make me more successful in getting the good jobs it the IT filed. Like I said before, it's pretty much the only thing I want to do in life. So I find a job and

1. Go to back to school to get a degree while studying for MCSE or MCSA cert?
2. Stick with the diploma and study for MCSE or MCSA cert?
3. Your A+ cert is good enough just go back to school and get a degree
4. Just study for your MCSE or MCSA

Also when it comes to the MCSE or MCSA certs, which is better, which is easier to get?

    5. Try getting a job before doing the degree, it will make you more aware of why you are learning specific material and extra motivation to get a decent job.Work for 6 months or a year and you will have more idea of what you want to do.Definitely aim for a degree, if while working you have time to get certified in Microsoft do,otherwise wait until you are studying the degree as you'll have more idea on what area you would like to focus on.
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

You won't become a network admin without paying your dues first. :D
Start early because you will have to start at the bottom unless you get a lucky break.

Believe me I know that I can't just jump in and be a network admin. I'm willing to start anywhere, but I'm just wondering, which would be the be path to take in one day being a network admin.

There is no specific path. You have to start getting some experience and move on from there. You need to get your foot in the door as soon as possible, did I say that already? icon_wink.gif Don't get anything higher than A+, Net+, or MCP before getting some experience.

What did you get your degree in?

No degree I got a diploma in Computer Infromation Systems Networking Specialists, and that was one of the things I was wondering should I do. Get a degree then more certs, or should I just worry about getting more experience and then more certs Also which certs would be good to work on getting next? My biggest goal is to one day get my MCSE or MCSA cert, but I was looking at some other certs like Net + and Security +, and I was wondering should I work for some of those now, and M$ one later, or should I just start studying for one of the M$ now, while I work in the IT field.

Yah, what do you mean? Did you get an associates in CIS? Usually when I hear someone say they did CIS, it means Bachelors ( 4 years).

Did you enter into some certificate program? Usually getting a certificate implies you've taken the core courses for your particular program (in this case, CIS), but you've not completed all the requirements for the degree yet. I would finish your degree, while looking for a job at the same time. Then when you've gotten your foot in the door, you can concentrate on certs. IMO. icon_cool.gif

I have a diploma from a technical college, I can do two more years and get an associates or I could go to a university to get a bachelors

How bout this...go to school to get a degree in a field of your choice. While going to school, try to work at a computer shop or an ISP. At the same time, study for certs.

I worked full time in a network control center, took school, and studied for certs all at the same time. It's not that hard, but it takes commitment. If you can multitask, go for it.
