7023 is a fairly generic event ID. There should be other events that give more detail on the problem.
Are you sure it is an Exchange problem, or did BE lose ITS database? It has a database of its own too.

danman: about the BE not sure: how do you check?
i did the file checker to see if OLEDB32.DLL was corrupt or mismatch
but said it was correct version; but i cant find a whitepaper on
how to check if BE lost its database...doesnt say and no other error evt id? but this one...cannot start the Tape device media service hangs right upon restart of start or stop service??? i guess we can redo from scratch but i hate that not knowing the exact issue. how do i weed it out? icon_confused.gif

Only way I know how to fix a Backup Exec problem.... trust me, it works

    http://www3.ca.com/smb/product.aspx?id=5282&culture=en-us

I would suggest a reinstall of the backup program.. its a pain but may help with DB issues

i wish i could purchase that new replacemnet for veritas; i have never liked it...we have so many bugs in it with so many issues! and bugs...

I think we will end up reinstalling it entirely; i hate that
i wish these software companies would have decent tools to root out
the real issues with their software; not just pump them out to make abuck
and have us beta test it for them at our expense; but i guess that is the IT world.

Veritas is complete crap compared to Brightstore... (my opinion)
We have clients that use both.

Try www.experts-exchange.com they may have an answer for your question... try that before you reinstall... costs $9/month to join (cancel after the first month if you want)

The application log usually has the software specific events.

And I think there is a utility BE comes with to check the database.

Did you get this issue resolved? If not respond back and I will help you out. Have been doing major Veritas backup software troubleshooting for all my clients.
