IOS 12.2(10b), no ethernet interfaces

Dear Greater Cisco Intellect,

I've managed to get IOS 12.2(10b) on my 2621XM router. But I'm thinking something went wrong w/ the flash upgrade, because I cannot see any of the router's ethernet ports.

My show version looks like:

Router#sh ver

IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-D-M), Version 12.2(10b), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(7r) [cmong 7r], RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Router uptime is 4 days, 4 hours, 9 minutes
System returned to ROM by reload
System image file is "flash:c2600-d-mz.122-10b.bin"

M860 processor: part number 5, mask 2
Bridging software.
X.25 software, Version 3.0.0.
32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

Configuration register is 0x2102

Should I try to re-tftp the flash image?

It seems your image does not support the XM series. You need 12.2(14) or 12.2(icon_cool.gifT1 or better: http://www.cisco.com/global/LA/assets/pdfs/access_router_guide.pdf

I think you might have misread that. Page 22 of the PDF shows:

    Cisco 2620XM IOS 12.1(14) Mainline, 12.2(X) Mainline (future) or 12.2(icon_cool.gif T1.

    He has 12.2(10b) which is > 12.1(14).

The 2691 is the exception which has specific IOS requirements, given on subsequent pages.

PDF has a bad index for 2600 series. Clicking 2600 in the TOC sends you to the beginning page for the 3600 series, same as clicking on 3600. 1700 sends you where you should be sent.

Show interfaces doesn't give the ethernets?

Nope, I didn't misread, but I was looking at a different page. Page 23 says:
Support for Cisco 2600XM Series routers starts in Cisco IOS mainline release 12.2.(14) and in 12.2(icon_cool.gifT1.

So, the file is inconsistent (page 23 is wrong) and doesn't tell us which 12.2 mainline release he needs anyway because the file predates 12.2 mainline xm support. OK, here we go: 12.1(14) Mainline, 12.2(12) Mainline, 12.2(icon_cool.gifT1, or later

So, the answer is still that 12.2(10b) does not support the xm.

Thank you to everyone for the replies. I love this forum!!!
Show interfaces doesn't give the ethernets?

No. I tried show interfaces, show ip interfaces, show interface fa 0/0, show interface fa0/0, show interface e 0/0 show interface e0/0. No ethernet interfaces are listed?

The IOS not being compatible w/ the XM series router seems right.

I've burned a lot of time trying to get this router up and running...I need to re-focus on my studies. All is not lost however...I feel I can back up and move IOS images in my sleep.

    Thanks again!

And they never will be with this image. The thing that led me to immediatly suspect an unsupported image was the fact that your sh version output does not list a summary of interfaces. It should have shown something like:
    1 FastEthernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)
    2 Serial(sync/async) network interface(s)
    1 ISDN Basic Rate interface(s)

If you read the entire page 23, it is for 2691
Support for Cisco 2691 starts in Cisco IOS release 12.2(icon_cool.gifT1
Support for Cisco 2600XM Series routers starts in Cisco IOS mainline release 12.2.(14) and in 12.2(icon_cool.gifT1. In addition,
support for 2600XM Series routers will be added in a future 12.2 mainline release.
Cisco IOS Release 12.2 T Memory Recommendations for the Cisco 2600 Series Routers

    Admittedly a bit conflicting.

All the 2600 series are supposed to have at least one Ethernet, so the ethernet ports should show up.

However, in looking up IOSs, 12.2(10) is skipped, as if it never existed or buggy.
