Which encryption algorithms are being used with symmetric and asymmetric encryption and pgp and s/mime?
Im studing for the i-net+ exam but my book isnt clear about it.

It actually depends on the implementation of PGP or s/mime, but this should clear things up a bit:

PGP & SMIME use both... thats why they are called hybrid cryptosystems.
The public encription is used to encrypt the simmetrical key used to encrypt the plain text.
