OSPF DR and BDR

in an OSPF network setup, one that is a broadcast multi access, or any type that chooses a DR and BDR. Is there a DR chosen for each different area that you have configured? or is it just the one DR for the whole network.

hmmm as im typing this im thinking that it must be one for every area, but im not so sure.

Also what command can you type to see the priority of a router in an OSPF network? i cant seem to find it. Oh and when you are setting the priority of an OSPF router do you need to do it on every interface that is connected?

Like if i wanted to make sure i router would never become a DR or BDR i would want to set the priority to 0. but do i need to do this on every interface?

thanks

A broadcast multiaccess network is an ethernet segment, therefore you have a DR election on every ethernet segment in your network. You can change an eth port to point-to-point in this case a DR router will not be elected. To do this on the interface do "ip ospf network point-to-point", A router can become the DR for multiple connected broadcast networks but this uses up alot of resources on the router so its not advised, you should plan the election process with priority. The priority is configured on the ospf interface, "int e0/0, ip ospf priority 10, to see the priority do
" show ip ospf int eth 0/0"
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$
