how to make 2600 into voice router?

what do I need to get?

I only have either 2501 or 2612 router at work (I have acess to 5300 but it has ISDN connection and I want to try real phone connected to the fxs port) but I want to setup fxs port setup..

do i need to buy a voice card? which one? what is the cheap solution here?

You can get an NM-1V or NM-2V (1 or 2 slots) and then you can look at the VICs to put in them. I've got the 2FXS and 2FSO cards in the NM-2Vs. There are some newer NMs, but I'm not sure if they will work in a plain 26xx.... and you did mention cheap.

And you need an IOS with Telephony support.

if the card is a newer HWIC model card it will not work in the older routers those are only compadible with the newer routers. also the newer routers don't support a majority of the old cards
