Socks is a a type of proxy server, a set of standards, really. Filter by UDP, TCP, DNS name stuff like that.-Daniel -

yep, that's exactly what it is. In case your wondering original poster: This "SOCKS" field in your firefox, is where you would enter your internal proxy server information if your company used one. This would channel all of your websurfing through their machine. It also means if you look at dirty p0rn at work, it will be cached in their server and they will be able to hunt you down. And if someone else looks at the same dirty p0rn page, they will view it right from the proxy server. So it does help with speed
