The beta exam for the new CEA/CompTIA DHTI+ will begin on Nov 15, 2006. The beta exam will be available NO CHARGE on a first come basis. The exam code is HT1-201. The exam is listed on Pearson/VUE but hasn't made it to Prometric yet (11/9 1pm).
Exam objectives for the new exam are available here:
http://certification.comptia.org/hti/default.aspx.
Once we have enough test takers we will shut down the beta.
Good luck!

supertechCETma Member Posts: 377Quentin Wells has a good book out for HTI+ that is still relevant (Thomson/Course Technology ISBN 1-59200-157-2). brush up on your Net+. Wireless. The new DHTI+ has less electricity and less HVAC. It no longer deals with structured wiring or cable.
How Home Theater and HDTV Work by Michael Miller (QUE ISBN 0-7897-3445-1) is a good guide for A/V.Electronic Technicians Association-International www.eta-i.org

Megadeth4168 Member Posts: 2,157I guess that I just answered my own question (below). I just signed up for the exam.
This is open to anyone or only those who have certain CompTIA certs like the HTI+?[/b] -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,093 AdminOK, I'm scheduled for December 30th. I'll put in a few hours of study time on the DHTI+ topics, including throwing together some study notes based on the exam objectives. I've failed every beta cert exam that I've ever taken, so this'll probably just be one for that pile.

Megadeth4168 Member Posts: 2,157OK, just got back from my exam! I don't know how much I can really say about it but I can tell you that based on having the certifications I have, I found 50% of the test very easy.
There was about 25% of the test where I was familiar with the basics of some of the objectives and played a bit with them myself but had to use the answer that best made sense to me.... Usually it seemed with these that only 1 answer would work anyways.
Then there were 25% of the test/objectives that I just had no clue on and had to guess with what sounded like it could be right.....
It will be interesting to see my results.... I have a little while to wait for that though.
I'm going to go look over CompTIAs website site on the DHTI+ and see if there is anything else I can talk about. -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,093 AdminI took the DHTI+ beta yesterday. I think I did better on it than I expected, but I probably didn't score higher than 66%. Had I studied more seriously for it I think that I could have passed (I'll let you know in March if I did). Anyway, here's my review of it: http://www.techexams.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=120680#120680

I feel the same way about it as you do! I think that I did better than I thought I would and scored about the same as you did.... I really wish I would have actually studied before taking the exam...
