mac address question

hostA--->router1<
>router2
>hostB

hello,
I am confused about the following scenario.

If hostA accesses resources on hostB what will show up in the arp table and mac-address table on hostb?

will it have records for the mac & ip address of hostA, or the mac & ip address of router1?

thanks for your help.
thanks,
Swabbies

    I just asked a very similar question here:

    excerpt from that thread:

    When the client sends the packet, the source IP will be 10.10.1.2 and the source MAC will be aa:aa:aa

    The destination IP will be 192.168.1.2 and the destination MAC will be bb:bb:bb

    When the packet reaches the webserver, it will have a source IP of 10.10.1.2 and a source MAC address of cc:cc:cc:

    The destination IP will be 192.168.1.2 and the destination MAC address will be dd:dd:dd

    Everytime a packet crosses a layer 3 device, it is re-framed

    I just explained the whole process in further detail in that thread, if you want to give it a look.
