What about "Exam 70-621 will be available in a beta release from December 20, 2006 through January 12, 2007" at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-621.mspx ?
I've just scheduled at 8th Jan and it worked!
Did I do wrong?Laura -

I don't know. I scheduled it for the 5th just to be on the safe side because it said in the email that the 5th would be the last day to take the exam.
I noticed that in the email i got from the test center it said the exam duration would be 3 hours but in the Microsoft email it said 4 hours. I wonder what's actually true now. -

APA Member Posts: 959booked mine for Jan 5th as well.... as thats one of the only days left to sit the exam at my test centre.
I noticed as well the discrepencies between the test centre and microsoft website. MS website said 4 hours for exam...... Test centre said 3 hrs.
Email said last date 5th...... MS Website said Jan 12th......
Not that it really matters..... As 5th Jan is D day
Now to beef up my test boxes so they can cope with Vista!!!!!!

Dionysus Member Posts: 67 ■■□□□□□□□□Time for my review...
All and all, it wasn't too bad. I had 80 questions and 2.5 hours (finished in 1.5 hours). The questions were surprisingly short. 2 to 3 sentences instead of the 'war and peace' style we're used too. The entire question was relevant to the problem (no useless junk).
The first half of the exam was fairly easy, then it got stupid... For about 20 questions they we're asking things I would expect to see on a networking exam. The end was fairly easy again.
Most questions had 2 obvious wrong answers, and 2 possibly right ones. Take your time, think about it, and it shouldn't be too hard.
I had a couple of "place in order" questions. No hot-spots, and no simulations. There was a couple that boiled down to the right way vs. the ms way. And a couple that made you consider the job role (you can't restart IIS on a web server in the data center because it's not your job).
The subject matter mostly covered windows firewall, bitlocker, communications (networking), and command line utilities.
I used CBT Nuggets: Vista First Look (which wasn't very helpful), Technet, Vista help files (very helpful), and XP experience (somewhat helpful).
I would strongly recommend reading as much of the vista help files as possible. Especially on bitlocker and windows firewall.
In 8 weeks I'll find out whether I still have a perfect track record or not. -

Thanks for the review. Do you mean the help files within Vista?
Was TechNet helpful at all?
I hate these job role questions, because you can't generalize. In some companies you are expected to do more than you job role offically states you to do.
But it's very nice to hear that they shortened the questions. I remember on my 271 exam some questions filled up the whole page. I actually wrote a comment at the end of the exam telling them that some questions were just too long. Seems like they listened.
I'm surprised to hear that they asked about command line utilities. I didn't expect questions about that in the exam.
So do you think you passed? -

By "Vista help files" I mean hitting F1 and using the help center. Search for bitlocker, windows firewall, ect. Technet was helpful, I just don't care much for the layout.
I know what you mean... My offical job title is "Operations Support Specialist" (help desk, low teir support), but I've built servers, set up RIS, ect...
When I saw 80 questions I thought "Dear God... I'm going to be here all ******* day."
I think that I did pass, but with a lower score than I would have liked. -
catloco Member Posts: 28 ■□□□□□□□□□I've taken a lot of tests, but that test was hardcore. WTF were they thinking when they made that test. I like the shortened questions, but the OS isn't out yet and they expect you to know all of that. I have a good chance of passing, but i don't think someone with just a MCDST could pass that test.MCITP: SA, MCTS, MCSE 2003+S, CCA, MCP, MCDST, A+, Network+, i-Net+, Security+

Windows Vista Enterprise and Business has been out Since November 30th for businesses, and a little earlier than that for MSDN subscribers I think. It is nice to know this exam is more difficult that 70-620. That exam was easy in my opinion.Working on: MCSA 2012 R2 -
LukeQuake Member Posts: 579 ■■■□□□□□□□Hmmm... I think i'm going to have to get myself a technet subscription!

kyrikaze Member Posts: 111Well I've just taken the 71-621 UPG MCDST to MCITP Entreprise Support.
I had 80 Questions and 230 Minutes (I think they gived me a littre more time to complete because i'am french and for non US people, when u take an Microsoft exam, they always gived u a bonus of 30 minutes to complete).
I have been using Vista RC1 and Windows Vista Ultimate to study, and also those books:
- Introducing Windows VISTA MS PRESS
- Vista Revelé (French version of VISTA Revealed)
The exam don't look more difficult thant another exam, if u have succed with MCDST, i don't think it will be a problem to do the same with this one.
Few questions deals with Upgrade from W2k or XP, Troubleshoot with w2003 server (dns problem, IP in Apipa mode, Ipv6..), Two questions about Parental Control, One about Bluetooth and Activesync, some about IE7 security Protected Mode, One about Tablec PC, One about Calendar...
They always propose a lot of possibility, adn you have some times to choose between, what u think is right to do, and what Micrososft say U have to do.
Now, i'am waiting for the result, they says, i have to wait 8 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
tibul Member Posts: 240i know the feeling i took the 71-620 beta at the beginning of November and still haven't received my results.Studying 70-292.

kyrikaze Member Posts: 111A last news!
I heard, that those who get the MCITP Enterprise support, (so those who upgrade with the 71-621 too) will also become MCTS du to the new Microsoft Certification.
Look what i found on the microsoft website:
MCDSTs will need to take only one exam (70-621) to earn the MCTS and MCITP: Enterprise Support certifications instead of following the direct path of three exams....
So I think that, if we succed, we'll be MCTST Enterprise Support en MCTS Windows Vista, Configuration.
Nice to know it !!!!!
I hope it'll be good ![/i] :P -

Excellent, kill two birds with one stone. For the up coming year (2 of my goals - out of x amount) I wanted to get the MCITP and the MCTS status, if I pass the beta exam, yippee!!!

sunny155 Member Posts: 23 ■□□□□□□□□□I just gave 70-621. Not got a single Bitlocker Question. Most que where Wifi, firewall and Securtiy Authentication based (802.11x).
Now Preparing for 70-290.
To pass i need 56 out of 80 which is doubtful. I assume that 36 were correct.
Some questions were Domain based which are not easy unless you used vista in Domains. -
NinjaBoy Member Posts: 968Thanks for that Questions come from a pool, so some poor person must have gotten alot of Bitlocker questions
Oh well on my second book now (finished 1 book and CBT nuggets), along with playing with the new OS, hope I do ok

They cancelled our 71-621 exam because they said that some office questions were missing? isn't ?
I re sit today to my second beta exam 71-621, 74 questions, but nothing, no questions about office!!!!!
So, are they joking?
The only thing I noticed was, that they were more questions dealing about Active directory, Domain, Policy than the first beta.
Can some one confirme by making a resume.? :
