How do you assign default gateway to a specific vlan ?

You can only configure a default gateway for the switch itself, which should be in the same subnet as the active 'VLAN interface' /management VLAN, so you can use Telnet, TFTP etc from and to devices not in the same subnet.

I thought about the same thing when configuring multiple VLANS on a switch and having a trunk link to a router. You need to utilize sub-interfaces on the router interface linked to your 2950 sw, set the encap on each sub-int and beside each encap set the vlan-ID.
