My company pays my salary for going to the event and travel expenses. The only thing they don't pay for is lunch.

Considering the company I work for just bought this datacenter from another company, we are still considered the bastard child of the family. So in short, nope not yet at least.

Our company will pay for us to go to events that will directly "affect" us (or improve us) and will even go as far as throwing in money for a lunch at McDonalds.

The company I used to work for would pay for events. Trying to get yourself to go on one was a completely different matter. They would pay for training including accomodation and food/travel expenses but wouldn't allow you to take the certification on the principal that if you get the certification you will leave the company. /bizarre
