Think I know the answer to this is no but anyway.......

If I back it up to a tftp server can I use/install an IOS from a 1700 router on a 2600?

I am trying to do inter VLAN routing but one of my routers IOS does not support the encapsulation command on the fa 0 or 0.1 etc interface.

So I want to copy my 1721's IOS to a TFTP then install it on my 2620, would this work or are IOS' hardware platform specific? If they are it's cool, I can practice inter vlan routing on my 1721 but just thought I'd ask the q. Thanks, Malc
