Tech notes? Books?

So, I see 70-270 not 70-271 but they're the same basic thing? Am I wrong? I also do not see none for the second test... am I missing them? I also bought the MS press books- good choice? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

There is an overlap between the two exams (the 70-270 & 70-271) however both exams also cover different things.
Exam 70-270 covers: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional and
Exam 70-271 covers: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
A couple of good books that I would recommend would be:
MCDST: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician Study Guide: Exams 70-271 and 70-272 (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MCDST-Microsoft-Certified-Desktop-Technician/dp/0782143520/sr=8-4/qid=1171357467/ref=pd_ka_4/203-7035115-6370318?ie=UTF8&s=books
) and
MCDST: Self-paced Training Kit: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Windows XP Operating System (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MCDST-Self-paced-Supporting-Troubleshooting-Pro-Certification/dp/0735622272/sr=8-1/qid=1171357467/ref=pd_ka_1/203-7035115-6370318?ie=UTF8&s=books
)
Both these books contain material for both the 70-271 & the 70-272.
Hope this helps

Hi
I studied for my MCDST using only the MS press books, I find that they had too many typos in them but apart from the typos, they were great resources to me.
Personally, I think the MS press books are sufficient if you have experience in support.
I don't know much about the Sybex books because I have not tried them.
Best of luck for your studies
Jason
