I just finished semister 1 of version 3.1 and I found with a lot of study there should be no reason why people get really low grades. I finished the course with an A grade. I got a 94% on the final. I hope the rest of the classes are just as hard because I think it would better prepare you for the real exam.

Remember to study, study, study, and you'll do fine. icon_wink.gif

I found a lot of information in semester 1 overlapped with my Intro into network fundamental class ( Net +). They covered more on routing and routable protocals in the Cisco class. I think you could use semester 1 class as a good start towards Net +.

I know that at the College I go too they did away with the N+ course and replaced it with Cisco Semester 1.

Having finished the CCNA CNAP in December, I have somewhat mixed feelings. I took the CCNA three weeks into the CCNA 4 quarter and basically functioned as my instructors lab assistant. By the time I got to 4, I knew I was ready, and just went and took it (I do not recommend this practice).

While I grew frustrated with the information saturation that the academy put me through, I'm actually really glad they go as in depth as they do. Most of the stuff you learn isn't going to be asked on the CCNA... the curriculum, and indeed, some of the test questions are much harder than what you'll find on the CCNA. But now that I'm studying for BSCI.... I'm glad they did it that way. It's not nearly as steep a learning curve as I had thought it was going to be. I had been planning on taking the CCNP CNAP courses, but I find myself in a rather interesting position. I work for a company where the cisco staff is all either CCNA or CCNP (we have 3 CCIE's on staff, but those guys aren't quite as accessible hehe), one of my co-workers is going through the CNAP for CCNP right now, and so I have access to his study materials, and there's about 20 million in Cisco equipment 250 or so feet away from me. The company encourages learning, doesn't care if we play with the equipment (as long as we don't break it) and will reimburse me for my exams. I have absolutely no reason to attend classes for CCNP hehe.

At any rate, while the academy has it's issues, for the most part, I'd say cisco knows what they're doing.

Im finishing Academy in 2 days.
In a school in Norway im not to happy about them only having 2500 routers and and old switch witch was useless.
Though we have lots of the routers to play with there seems to be little time to do the labs wich sucks becuase i feel that i lack some of the hands on i need for the CCNA.
We have to pass the modul tests final test with 70% if we fail we get a second chance and can pass with 50% wich i think is all to easy.
I have passed all three that i have taken in first try but the rest of my class all fails first try.
Though i think that they are very lazy in their studies and have given up on taking the CCNA.
Hopefully i can try a CCNA test in a week or 2. I can afford to fail maybe 2 times but then i have to pass hehe

huh...be lucky you had some hands on. When I did the Cisco Acad. about a year ago we did NOT have ANY hands on, it was basically all book and Internet based. Although I was the only one in my classes that had actuall experience with working on Cisco routers and switches because that's what I do at my job, and I also have a nice lab at home with some 2500 routers and a few 2900 switches.

It was tough for my classmates because they were all on a career change so they never really had actual networking experience. I felt bad for them but I tried to help them out as much as I could.

I would take pictures from my job's MDF and wiring closets...all Cisco based and bring them in to show them how a typical MDF and wiring closets looked like. At the end of the Acad. all my classmates passed...but with a struggle. I must also admit it was tough towards the end, Semester 4 WAN Technologies.

I feel like we got cheated out of good hands on. I have read and seen some pictures of schools that teach the Cisco Acad. that have nice labs for the students. Not ours!!! What we used and it was like the last 2 weeks of the last semester was Packet Tracer for "hands on" icon_rolleyes.gif .

    Anyway that's my story.

    My College's Cisco Acad. SUCKS!!!!

If your asking for answers your NOT going to get them here! Do yourself a favor and study the material and you should feel better about yourself knowing that "you" were about to pass the exam or class.

    Best of luck to you,
