Remote Assistance question

Im going through the MS Press book and on page 2-27 it says that if both the helper and requester computers are behind non-UPnP NAT devices, the Remote Assistance connection will fail. However, it then says that if you are using a software-based personal firewall or NAT in a home environment, no special configurations are needed. So does the author assume all home NAT routers support UPnP?? That is not the case is it? If not, then there will be issues with remote assistance. See my slight confusion?

As far as i remember it:

Both Machines have to run XP.

One user behind NAT will work
Users behind UPnP NAT will work
    Users behind ICS will work
    But Both behind NAT wont.

But both behind NAT will work if they support UpnP right? Also, both machines can run XP -or- Windows 2003. Also, users behind windows 2000 ICS will NOT work. This is from the book.

That is correct. That is why he stated "Users behind UNP NAT will work."

Most definitely would work in Windows 2003 (and does) if it worked in XP considering 2k3 came out after XP.
