HI there just want some advice career wise

I have 2 years experience working as a first line support technician.

I am currently working as a IT Technician

I have Currently no Certs but have aqquired nearly 4 years experience working in the IT sector.

I am undertaken the CCNA exam in October this year

My skills include Troubleshooting / Upgrading / Updating Software / Harware Fault Fixing / Troubleshooting and Setting up small networks/ Linux experience (using Debian)

I am interesting in networking but do not want to become a SYSADMIN any ideas which road I can go down?

    CCNA is good. I would also check out A+/Net+ and Security+.

    From your username, I assume you are in the UK.

    Here in Australia, there is an industry certification for network cabling (Austel certification). It is run by TAFE technical colleges. This is for people who work in the telecomms area (phone, data, etc). From what I understand it mainly concerned with physical cabling and jointing course. You need to know limitations of characteristics of different types of comms cables.

    These are qualifications Telstra techs have.

    This would be suitable especially if you did not want to do system admin work and just stick to physcial infrastructure side of networking.

    Maybe you could find a similar body in the UK which does qulaifications for this type of work.
