Go for the forensics. A friend's son is studying that in the UK and the stuff they are doing in their first years is absolutely fascinating. The sort of software and equipment they are getting their hands on is real James Bond type stuff. After the course is done, the sort of employers are government, police, high end specialist security companys all of which will pay very very well for this knowledge.

One of the things this young lad and his classmates were told in their first couple of weeks is that statistically, 20% of them will become criminals with the knowledge they will learn on the course. Some of them have already been approached by shady individuals offering gifts to the young students. They have a police/government phone number to call when this happens !!!!!

If I was a young man again and getting ready to apply for University, I would be going after this in a big way. Of course though, in my day there wasn't enough content to fill a computer science degree so the packed it out with maths instead which was kind of annoying especially having to prove that 1+1=2. You know, to this day I have ever had to prove it.. funny that!
    Kam.

Are you looking for an online degree or one from a university in a specific geographical area? Google shows many degree programs in "computer forensics," "digital forensics," and "Masters of Science in Information Assurance with a Digital Forensics Track." Here's a write-up on the Masters in Digital Forensics program at the University of Cental Florida: http://csdl2.computer.org/comp/proceedings/hicss/2007/2755/00/27550264b.pdf

The two people who are in my organization that are full-time information security forsenic investigators both have had a lot of SANS training and certs. You may want to investigate that avenue as well.
It's not the moments of pleasure, it's the hours of pursuit...

SANS sounds like an excellent choice, but how long has their degree program existed? And is it currently accredited, and will its units transfer to a "proper" university? Check it out first as you would any other school.
