in CCNA & CCENT
I am looking to build a lab that will be a good base and cover most aspects of not only the CCNA but also the CCSP. Please tell me what would be an ideal lab. I would like to start with a
1 x Cisco 2611 32/8:
32MB DRAM
8MB Flash
Two Built-in Ethernet ports
Two WAN slots
One NM slot
Console Cable Kit
Power Cable
12.3.19 IP/FW/IDS IOS on CD
1 x Cisco 2950 Switch 12 Port Switch
12.1
cisco WS-C2950-12 (RC32300) processor (revision E0) with 20815K bytes of memory.
flashfs[0]: Total bytes: 7741440
flashfs[0]: Bytes used: 4165120
flashfs[0]: Bytes available: 3576320
Not sure about much information ont he 2950 switch is that what I should be getting? I would buy another 2611 router of same stats little bit later also.
Please tell me if this is what I should be getting and what is a reasonable price for these items. I do not really like to fight for stuff on ebay its frustrating I would rather just pay so I can just get started.
Is this kit worth its price?

mikej412 Member Posts: 10,086 ■■■■■■■■■■You can find some lab links in the CCNA Forum FAQ.
I'm part of the 4 router (1 that can do trunking, 1 for a FR switch, 1 that could be terminal server, 1 for the 2nd spoke router for Frame-relay) and 3 switch fan club (at least 2900s, 2 2950s preferred, depending on budget).
For the CCSP..... start here, and modify for your budget. The CCSP and CCVP have some hefty hardware and software requirements if you want to build a home lab. 2500 and 2600 routers should still be good for IOS Firewall/IDS/VPN stuff. For ASA failover, you could probably just learn the configuration or rent some rack time. You might be able to get by with a 5505 to cover the Pix/ASA configuration/software. Not sure what you will need for the CSVPN exam when you get to it (VPN3000s hitting end of life).:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -
