Quick Question RE: Null Modem Serial Cable for 2500's...

Just a quick question with regards to a Serial RS-449 Cable, Double Shielded Technology, 60 Pin interface cable.

Was wondering if anyone knew if there's such a thing as a Serial RS-449 DCE to DCE cable available (Null modem cable I think there called).

It's just I've two 2500's and I'd like to be able to directly connect them through their serial interfaces in order to practice for CCNA.

The way you connect a serial port of one router to a serial port of a second router is by using a "back to back serial cable" that functions like a "null modem serial cable" using EIA/TIA-232 standards. The "back to back serial cable" is actually two cables connected into one. The two cables being: 1) a DTE serial cable and 2) a DCE serial cable. By connecting the DTE cable to the DCE cable, it will create in effect a "serial crossover cable." So your proposition of a "Serial RS-449 DCE to DCE cable" would be in effect a "serial straight through cable" which would not help to interconnect two routers by their serial ports. So if you already have a DCE serial cable, then you'd need to obtain a DTE serial cable.

Now, you can forward the beer tokens to me using Token Ring. :P
