I have a 2610 cisco router with c2600-io3-mz.123-19.bin image running from flash.
I checked cisco website and found out that this 12.3 version does support RIP protocol; However when I try to set RIP on the router, I get this error message "Router26A(config)#router rip
IP routing not enabled "
Router26A#show ip route
Default gateway is not set
Host Gateway Last Use Total Uses Interface
ICMP redirect cache is empty
This occurs both when I use static and dynamic RIP . My two 2500 routers dont have this problem.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I guess I needed to read the error said. So I had to enable Ip Routing

therefore it won't support inter-vlan routing (router on a stick) which is a required subject
on the CCNA.
To preform this, you need to get IP Plus or greater which would be c2600-is-mz.123.xx.bin
Or Enterprise basic will do this as well but requires 64D/16F - c2600-j1s3-mz.123.xx.bin
