upgrading memory

just wondering, how do i go about upgrading the memory on my 2620? is it just a few screws and sliding the cover off and then basically like a normal PC once you get the top part of the case off?

Believe it or not, it really is similar to replacing RAM on a PC.

well apparently i'm incapable of doing this because now when i start the router up with either the new or old, i'm getting "Error: no system memory found" i wouldn't care if this was one of my 2500's but this is a 2620 that i got a killer deal on.

remove all of the memory, boot it, turn it off, install the old memory, boot it again, and see if it reads.

I'm pretty sure you need a service contract with Cisco to RMA it, and to be honest, it would be cheaper to just buy a new one than do that.

dumb me had the forkin memor not snapped in all the way. DUHHH.

looks like all is gravy now! in the process of loading up my new IOS.

edit: one thing though, it seems as if now my router wnats to do everything from tftp. it keeps trying to open files from tftp.

Did you upgrade the Flash memory too?

yes. upgraded from 32/8 to 64/16. and it looks like erasing and reloading startup-config fixed the tftp issue so now i appear to be good.
