Tools for monitoring/analysing computers/networks?
Just wondering if any of you ever worked in a data center or place where the machines were monitored closely for issues. Any close suggestions?

Also, the Sysinternal tools are excellent tools for monitoring/troubleshooting/diagnostics/etc.. You can find these tools here“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.” - Harry F. Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModThe type of software you're looking for is either Nagios or ipMonitor, which is now owned by SolarWinds. Both Nagios and ipMonitor are capable of monitoring CPU time, hard drive space, NIC usage, POP3 and SMTP ports, various services, they can both do pings at regular intervals to check for connectivity, check HTTP and HTTPS, etc. . .

It will monitor every kind of box, be it Linux, Windows, Mac, whatever. . . the software just won't install on anything but Unix/Linux. According to their site, there'll be a Windows version coming. . . err. . . at some point.
