Hey people, I just passed the Core today w/a 653. icon_cheers.gif
I would like to thank TechExams for those extremely well done technotes, it really helped.
Some advice is:
Know how to handle customers.
Know you're networking, especially cables.
Questions in those fields was the hardest, and the bulk of my test, the other questions was breezed through.

Now it's onto the OS icon_mrgreen.gif

    Congrats! :D

    I agree with all of your points. My test was practically the same. Not as 'technical' as I had expected... There were a lot of ethical questions on both exams!

    Good luck on the OS exam! Let us know how it goes.

    Thanx BlackMage. I found that weird too, their was a extremely odd question on the test about customer service....unfortunately I can't say what it is, but trust me, it was odd.

    I wonder if they threw those questions in there because they figured they were goiing to be easy, and they wanted to make the test easier than all the books and prep exams made it out to be so know one would lose money :)

    what about cables? like what connects to what or what to use in certain situations?

    Well, the best answer is: know as many connectors/cables as possible. Know:
    1. What they are used for.
    2. What the end connectors look like.
    3. How many pins are on typical connectors
    4. What the transmission speeds are for certain cables like USB, FireWire, and definately networking cables.
    5. What situations you would use odd cables in, such as crossover cables.
    Since each test is different, we can't tell you what to expect as far as number and types of questions (besides, it's illegal icon_wink.gif ). But I can tell you knowing these cables will help you on the test and in real life:
    1. DB9 (VGA Monitor & Serial)
    2. USB
    3. FireWire
    4. DIN (Old and new)
    5. RJ-45 and RJ-11
    6. SCSI (just at least know the # of pins and what SCSI is best used for)
    7. IDE/EIDE
