Just start on the CCNA, don't worry about changes that may happen down the line. Any changes which occur shouldn't put you back too far if they happen before you sit your exam.
Yes we can, yes we can...

The academy is going to be offering two different CCNA-level programs, one geared towards secondary and one post-secondary.

As far as material goes, ISDN will no longer be a main topic covered. I would assume that WAN technologies such as DSL will move to take its place. I also heard that there will be some WLAN introduction in the academy program.

    Hope this helps

If anything, the changes will be extremely good for new CCNA's. I'm pretty sure that ISDN is going to disappear from the CCNA on the next revision. There will probably be some very simple IPv6 stuff on the test however, being that it's now a large portion of the new CCNP. I also wouldn't be surprised if wireless access is on the test too, being that it's a big part of Cisco's ISR (Integrated Services Routers).

Here's a previous thread about this.

Looks like the rumored June/July change from that thread still hasn't been announced by Cisco... Anyone want to start an October/November rumor? icon_lol.gif

Remember that Academy students get more time to take the old exams after changes are announced -- so if you are thinking about taking the Academy Courses, you should be fine.

as long as i can still take the one i'm in the academy for now, i'll be happy. although i would like to learn more about DSL with these things, as well as wireless networking. but then again, i suppose thats just more crap i have to put into my lab :P

The vast majority of the stuff that you would study for on the CCNA would still be on the test. You would just have to study a few new things too. I definitely wouldn't wait until the new test comes out to start studying, because the tests won't be that different.

Ive been reading through the forums and Lammle said this in a post.

I hear through the grape vine that the test is changing, not on their web site, and yes, the cisco academy is a great way of understanding the new information that cisco is working on.
And, for the equipment, if you are looking to buy the latest for the new exams coming out in June"ish":
    1841's or 2811's for routers
    2960 and/or 3960's for switches.
Understand the current exam is based on 2600 routers and 2950 switches, both both of those devices are no longer sold from cisco.
however, if you can route using all the routing protocols like RIP, RIPv2, EIGRP and OSPF, really, a router is a router...right?
I have the new stuff and it's very cool.
    Cheers!

    Thanks for sharing that.

Considering he said "June-ish" was that a recent post from Todd?
