Hello,
I'm studying to get my network+ certificate, and am planning to do the exam soon! After this I want to try to get some mcse certificates. But what course should I do, the 2000 or 2003? 2003 is newer but it seems to me that most companies still use win 2000. So is it a good Idea to start with mcse for win server 2003?
Thankz,
kabbi

Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminYou pretty much mention the answer in your question, if most companies, or your current employer, in your area uses Windows 2000, it's probably better to go for MCSE 2000 and take the upgrade exam later. Many companies will be upgrading to 2003 over the next couple of (many) years which requires knowledge from both 2000 and 2003. Also, jobs that involve server upgrades usually go to people that have a lot of experience (and the certs), so it might actually be easier to find a job as a new MCSE 2000 than 2003 alone.

Special_k21 Member Posts: 155Hi guys!
I am not actually on the MSCE path quite yet, but I have been reading up in the forums. I am in the same boat. I work in a pure W2K environment. However, I was planning on going for the Win2K3 track because of the excess testing involved if I went the 2000 track. I guess my questions is: How do I upgrade from 2000 to XP for MSCE? Do you retake all the tests? : -

kabbi Member Posts: 20 ■□□□□□□□□□Thankz for the reactions. So it's probably better to do the MCSE win 2000 course. After network+ what would be the best MCSE 2000 exam to start with? Could somebody tell me?
Thankz,

ajs1976 Member Posts: 1,945 ■■■■□□□□□□Most people start with 210 (Windows 2000 Pro).
Some pick 270 (Windows XP Pro), because it is the newer of the client OSes.
Others will start with 215 (Windows 2000 Server).
I wouldn't dwell on this to much now, but instead focus on getting past the Net+ exam.Andy
