No serial port

I'm at home on vacation for about 2 weeks and I brought my routers with me, but I unfortunately only brought home a couple of laptops -- without serial ports! All of my desktop machines have serial ports, but they're about 8 hours away by car.

So. . . anyone have any good ideas? Does anyone have experience with those serial -> USB dongles? Maybe I'll just have to wait until I go back.

I just got a couple more USB-Serial adapters from Best Buy recently -- other than being extremely overpriced, they work fine.

The only problem here being if he decides to play around with routing, he may end up hosing his connection. I'd go with the Serial/USB converter. They work great.

Yea, I might pick one up - 10 bucks at newegg. For practicing, I set up all of the routers from zero when doing a lab - to get used to setting them up. Of course, once things get more complicated I will stop doing that.
