Got my new equipment!!!

hey guys hows it going!!

Well my dad does telecommunication for a company in NC, called Deere-hitachi, and the guys that does the networking were using Hp epuipment, and the cisco equipment was in the basement collecting dirt.

My dad asked them if he could have to to give his to son for prepartation for CCNA.

Yeah i got them..

they have 6 2600 series routers, my dad brought home 2- 2611. still got 4 left that i can get.

and im still waiting of 3 -2501 routers that i bought from ebay.

also i notice on the 2611 that, one of them has a serial connection WIC 1T it was says, but the other doest.

u can also add another interface to it ( need advice dont know what to add),

and theres a big bay to the far left ( what goes in there) .

also would i need to purchase another WIC 1T card for the one 2611 router that doesnt have one???

hopefully this will be a good setup.

and 3 2501

now i just need a 2950 switch, well see if deere hitachi has any.

The "big bay" is a NM slot. For NM modules like a NM-4AS. that means 4 port serial module that supports asynchronous and synchronous communication. I would go ahead and get a 4port serial module for a Frame-Relay Switch. Google NM modules for prices and more info. And yes to study for CCNA you will need at least 1 serial interface on that 2611. Pick up a WIC-1T and a NM-4A/S module from ebay. If your feeling froggy you can also get up to an 8 port serial module. 4 port will suffice though. Those routers, a couple switches, a couple modules and your good to go man!

ok kwl. i look on ebay.

one of the 2611 came with a WIC 1T card,
and the other didnt, ill go ahead and purchase another, along with the 2501.

hey, to figure out what version IOS i have.

ill follow the setup ( com from my computer, and console from router), and use hyperterminal, and use Show version right?

and what version would you recommend my 2611, i will have 2 2611, and 3 2501
