This is my switch... is it OK in terms of IOS and etc. ?
I believe he latest IOS for your switch is 120-5.WC17.

You can get it here but you need to register (for free) first.

I registred few days ago when explored cisco.com :)

The latest IOS requires Minimum Memory: DRAM:8MB Flash:4MB

    DRAM is Ok.
    Would be my flash enough?

I think so. In any case, back up first your old IOS image then try the new one.

If it complains about insufficient Flash, go back to your old one.

I have a problem with a second 2924 password reset.

Cannot enter to privil. mode . I plug the cable and after all tests instead of user exec prompt
I get : you are accessing a monitored resource.................

    User Access Verification
    Username:

What to do? I didn't have this problem with first one.
If I just reboot it with Mode pressed and unpress whe first led goes off I copy , rename flash files
etc but after en it brings me: User access verification.

I cannot find other procedure than Cisco and different websites with the same procedure.

    ???? what to do

The exact procedure for password recovery can be found here.

Be sure to rename the old config file to some different name that won't be checked upon boot.

    Good luck.

I used it... First they say power the switch and get the prompt.
I don't have a prompt. Instead it asks username. I am saying on this one I cannot enter even
User Exec commands - no prompt.
I will try again... I did it 5 times icon_sad.gif(
With first one I didn't have this prob

I followed instruction. Now its better not asking User name, but gives me:

    Switch>en
    Switch#rename flash:config.old flash:config.text
    Destination filename [config.text]?
    Switch#copy flash:config.text system:running-config
    Destination filename [running-config]?
    5431 bytes copied in 12.216 secs (452 bytes/sec)
    lohcplc1#
*Feb 28 19:03:30 EST: %SYS-5-CONFIG: Configured from by
    lohcplc1#conf t
    Command authorization failed.

    What I am doing wrong?

Here are the instructions from the part where I am getting problem:
    ______________________________________________________

Copy the configuration file into memory.

    Switch#copy flash:config.text system:running-config
    Destination filename [running-config]?

    !--- Press Return or Enter.

1131 bytes copied in 0.760 secs
    Sw1#
The configuration file is now reloaded.

Overwrite the current passwords that you do not know. Choose a strong password with at least one capital letter, one number, and one special character.

Note: Overwrite the passwords which are necessary. You need not overwrite all of the mentioned passwords.

    Sw1# conf t
    ________________________________________________________________

!--- To overwrite existing secret password

    Sw1(config)#enable secret <new_secret_password>

!--- To overwrite existing enable password

    Sw1(config)#enable password <new_enable_password>

!--- To overwrite existing vty password

    Sw1(config)#line vty 0 15
    Sw1(config-line)#password <new_vty_password>

    Sw1(config-line)#login

!--- To overwrite existing console password

    Sw1(config-line)#line con 0
    Sw1(config-line)#password <new_console_password>

Write the running configuration to the configuration file with the write memory command.

    Sw1#write memory
    Building configuration...
    [OK]
    Sw1#

Tomorrow I am going to get 2950.

    Two questions:

    1. Is the memory OK ? Do I need to add for the latest IOS?
    Image text-base: 0x80010000, data-base: 0x805C0000

    2. As I mentioned earlier I got 2 2924. The truth - I like them both. I want to know your opinion. I have an option to return 2924 and pay less for 2950. Is it a good idea to keep all 3. 2-2924 and 1 2950. I paid a bargain for 2924 so money doesn't count in this case. Only the space and noise :) . Would it be an advantage to keep
all 3. I am not planning to go more that ccna. But want to study all this badly :)

About routers: I am waiting for 2 2610 and planning to buy 2520.
What will be the best to add to 2 2610

    Thx.
