Remain honest; try to stay away from a know-it all attitude :) This helps. The list of qualifications is long, so they don't expect you to know it all. Tell them what you want to learn and what you already know. You will get the job. Keep us posted :)

The interview went really well. Lasted over an hours he gave me a tour of the branch off ice. This interview seemed to be an initial interview basically to tell me about the job. Looking back i would not have said anything different, so that's good. He told me that i " did my homework" and that it went well. He will be having a meeting with the EVPs and i will expect a call from HR by the end of the week or monday.

    This job is BEAST!!!!!

it seems like i will learn so much every day.
    would be handeling

    Cisco routing and switching
    Cisco PIX 500+
    Cisco ASA
    Cisco IPT
    Cisco Call Manager
Nortel and Iwatsu conferencing systems. He said the job is like jumping into a company truck and driving over to a site and just fixing and staging. He understands that nobody knows everything about everything. HE is open to giving me a chance and allowing me to branch out from my routing and swithcing centralization into a more specific path like cisco VoIP or telecommunications.

If i get this second interview, it will be at the main HQ; which is like 7 hours of driving for me so....i might need to inquire about mileage or something like that. That is like asking me to drive across the state for an interview. icon_confused.gif During the second interview i will speak with an EVP and do a hands-on assessment with an engineer. No salary talk yet.

    I want this job!!!!! :D:D

It sounds like a good opportunity. If they make you an offer and you accept good luck with it. Knuckle down straight away and work very hard. Try and absorb as much as you can about the new job and turn over your own notes in the evening. It's important you do that after work on your own time. A diary is useful. Reflect privately on how it is going and what you have learned, and plan for the next day. You will know within the first 6 weeks if the job is what you really want to do. Often this depends on the company and the way they do things. They may have plenty of cool equipment but you don't want to end up supporting all of it in a hurry with no help and you could find yourself being overstretched and pulled in too many directions with long hours on the road. Find out what support they already have in place while you are bedding in, you are going to need it from the sounds of things.

Just had my second interview yesterday. It went PERFECT!!!

I met with 4 people( one was the first guy i interviewed with)

They were extremely friendly and did not ask any behavioral type questions
(explain a difficult situation in your past and how you overcame it)

I was told that the interview went well. They said that " basically all that is left is your references and money" so i am expecting a possible offer by friday, and if that happens, then definite 2 weeks notice on monday ha!

still no salary talk yet, i'm thinking 39k-44k

i will hear on friday and let you guys know!!! then i'll have to shop for apartments. .....

Awesome news! Good job. :) Keep us updated on how the job works out. I was in the same boat with my current job. I had to go through 8 interviews to get it and they called up every single one of my references as well. I then had to move 8 hours away from my family. It was worth it, because since I have moved, I have learned so much and it was a huge jump in my career. Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead.

    *** UPDATE***

Started my frist day on monday the 9th, and unpacked the last box! (whew)

They want me to get familiar with other products they sell, but i am mostly data and cisco.

    This week: mostly telecom

Replaced and helped clean install of Nortel BCM400 with Element Manager and Call-Pilot
Installed new Nortel BCM50 system and a new Iwatsu IPT system. so far learned alot about IPT and VoIP and Telephony.

This is just the initial training period, learning this much about telecom is pretty cool. Can't wait to dive into the ASA's next week though : ) They said they will let me borrow some gear for CCNP also!!

That's great, glad you're enjoying it. So how did the move go (4 hour relocation)? Did you find a decent place?

    @shednik
How are things over there with 3 people gone in a month? Why is everyone leaving? Or are you secretly orchestrating these events to eliminate competition? icon_lol.gif

everything went good, excpet for budgeting money i guess, god food is expensive. but yea everything is good. I'm living in state college, pa. the home of pen state university, the city isn't too bad right now. but i've been warned that when school starts 40,000 students move all within one weekend. when moving day come,s i'm not leaving my house cause of the traffic ha.

This is a big change. it's like day and night really, i went from sitting at a desk all day to driving to customer sights and working overtime. making lots of $$$ though!
