First time posting, just joined a few mins ago.
I'm 18, live in the Bahamas. I'm a network cabling specialist, and i got my A+ (studying for my Net+)
I'm thinking about freelancing and using the skills i got to make mone for myself but i'm still scepticle about it.
My main goal is to be a cabling contractor, but i'll also offer pc services.
How do i get the businesses to take me seriously?
I'm not worried about the work or people trying to take advantage of me because of my age. I'm worried that they wont take me seriously because of it.
Thanks in advance for anyone that read this.

Working for yourself is always something that needs a great deal of thought and planning of done correctly (taxs, managing work loads etc)
But nearly everyone enjoys it and learns valuable lessons from it.
As to them taking you seriously once you prove yourself to the first group of people and they start 'word of mouth' you should nt have a problem (concidering you do a good job!)
If your worried about your age being the problem can I ask how old you are?Foolproof systems don't take into account the ingenuity of fools -

NinjaBoy Member Posts: 968I also agree with the "Word of Mouth" approach, however there are also a few more things that you can do to "enhance" your professionalism.
You've got your Comptia A+, with this you can rollover to ETA-i's CST via studyexam4less, it's comes with a 1 year professional membership to the ETA-i as well. It's an extra professional cert that you can put on your business cards, cover letter's, etc.
Another thing that you may look into is Comptia's ASC:Comptia wrote:...The CompTIA A+ Authorized Service Center (ASC) program recognizes businesses that employ certified technicians. Give your business an edge and show customers that your organization is committed to quality technical service. If more than 50 percent of your technicians are CompTIA A+ certified, you can be a part of the ASC program. Obtaining the ASC designation assures customers that they will receive a high level of competence and service...
It's give's your business an extra something and show's that your not a "cowboy".
Just a couple of idea's, I hope that this helps.
