Clients/Servers not receiving updates through WSUS

GundamtdkGundamtdk Member Posts: 210
I have WSUS 3.0 installed on my Windows 2003 server.

My clients and servers are not receiving updates from the WSUS server.

I have approved the updates already.

Any suggestions as to why the updates are not being downloaded?

mm..let me try answering you, although I am still practicing the WSUS.

Are your workstations and servers to be received the updates by WSUS in the same OU?

Have you ever created and configured the group policy to locate the WSUS in this OU?

Have you checked the group policy on all workstations and servers to be received the updates from WSUS? Have you tried gpupdate?

Have you setup the options in WSUS server correctly?

    Have you tried wuauclt.exe?

I believe there appears to be improper configurations causing clients not to be received any updates from WSUS.

Please check the questions I ask and see if you can find any mistakes.

Please also post more info for further diagnostic.

Depends on how long ago you approved the updates in relation to when the computers are set to check for updates.

Assuming you have the Group Policy set correctly, you can run wuauclt.exe /detectnow from the Run dialog to force them to check for updates.

Do the computers show up under "Computers" on your WSUS administration site?

If they are not showing up then double check your Group Policy to make sure it is set correctly.

In group policy, did you specify the name of the WSUS server or IP Address. If name then can you ping the WSUS server from one of the clients by FQDN? If not then you are experiencing a DNS issue. If you can ping by name then check the WSUS Site properties in IIS to make sure you are specifying the correct port in your group policy.

The computers are showing up in WSUS.

The computers and server can ping the WSUS server.

When I check the logs I got one server reporting:

    Error 0x80072ee6

    One test workstation is reporting:

    Error 0x80004002

Can you post your Group Policy Settings that show how you are pointing them to the WSUS server?

for that error 0x80072ee6, the solution is to put the server name in FQDN. ex. http://wsussrv01.domain.com

give it a try and see.
