Density maps of the internet
I'm bored at work so I thought I'd share some images that I thought you guys may find interesting. They really put into perspective the concept of a global internet.

Mind you they're a year or two old, but shouldn't be very inaccurate.
Enjoy.

Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminCool, thanks for sharing. Especially the first one is real piece of art.
I [edit: now really] moved the topic to the Off-Topic forum as I'm sure this is interesting for non-CCNA students as well. -

Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□Here are a few density maps of the IPv6 internet for comparison. Mind you this map is from 2005 and the IPv6 internet has grown substantially in Asia over the last two years.
This map is courtesy of Tiscali.

Here's a map of the IPv6 internet with addressing added.

And here is a comparison of the IPv4 and IPv6 internet (which is my dual wallpaper at work).

Netstudent Member Posts: 1,693 ■■■□□□□□□□Yes, underwater fiber lines. A buddy of mine did an IN-Class presentation of it and it's actually pretty neat how they lay it and maintain it. They are ran through these pipes on the sea floor.
The pipes are actually flexible. When they need to repair it they have a robot that goes down and grabs the line and pulls it up. They are ran from point to point in various locations throughout the ocean. I read something a while back about AT&T extending its MPLS network all the way to India and Vietnam. I thought that was pretty cool too. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1! -
