Failed 642-901

I took the test today. I failed with 766. It was much harder than I anticipated. Someone a while back posted that it seemed very adaptive even though they claim it isn't. I agree, it does seem adaptive as it really nailed me on the most non-important things that I was unsure of. Overall, I do not think the test judges one's ability to configure routers as much as it does purely memorizing facts. The CCNA was a much better test of skills.

What do you guys think?

    gibby1801,

If there's a fixed number of questions in the exam, then it can't be an adaptive exam.

    Good luck on the retake.

i would also say, that when I took my ccna it was all memorization of facts not to much on configuration, except for the two sim's.

But that was almost three years ago, so they may have changed some stuff....

Gibby! bro really i feel your pain. It's not that fun to fail. As a matter of fact i see the new CCNP exams really tough! There's alot to it now! The new CCNP is just something else. Really i don't know what Cisco is up too! but sure do thank God i made mine at a Sitting. Well i had to combine 2 old CCNP's with and 2 of the new CCNP. It was much fun for me sitting for the ISCW and ONT. In ma opinion!! the new CCNP is much tougher and beta to the CCNP of last year. Cos you gat the world at your hand now! Don't quite bro you can make it. Get back and redeem the BSCI that you gat rubbed of last time! Good luck this time! :D

Gibby, I agree with you when I passed my BSCI I posted it somewhere here that the CCNA felt a much better test. It felt more about routing than the BSCI did. Anyhow good luck for the resit

I took BSCI today and failed too icon_sad.gif - 703. This is the first time I've failed a certification test. I guess it had to happen at some point.

As for the test itself, I think it was fair, I just wasn't as ready as I should have been. I ended up running out of time. I had about 10 minutes left and thought I was fine, but then I hit another simulation and I still had 10 additional questions left. That left me scrambling to even remember my subnets to do the router configuration.

Now at least I have an idea of what the professional level tests are like. They certainly aren't to be taken lightly. I guess I'll get back into this next week. I'm going to really try to hit the labs hard and then review the material again. I really thought I had done enough, I guess not though.

I used the Cisco press book and the quick reference study guide. Is there anything else I should be looking at? I wish I could find some good practice tests (not braindumps), however they just don't seem to be out there for 642-901 yet.

The harder it is to pass, the more it will be worth :D

    Better luck next time.
