CCNA Expired

I passed the CCNA back in 2001 or 2002. I know it is expired, does that mean I have to just retake the test?

Yeah, to become CCNA you must past the current CCNA exam.

Yeah, you have to retake it. Mark it as expired on your resume though, as I know some employers care if you had it or not. I've heard of people who were hired under the condition that they needed to retake the exam.

You could always study up for one of the CCNP exams and try and pass it which will renew your CCNA.

You don't have to obtain the actual CCNP certification (4 exams), but passing just 1 of 4 will suffice.

I would think that'd be a wiser choice unless you don't intend to advance further up the Cisco track.

I haven't checked Cisco's site, but I think that only works for CURRENT CCNA's, not expired. Once it has expired, you can't renew it with a CCNP exam. At least that is my understanding.

Yea, you don't have to be CCNP certified, just pass one of the exam or CCDA or any Cisco exams as long as your CCNA isn't expired yet. Which sucks but Cisco exams are no joke and they really want their candidate to be up to date which is why they are so respected.

Since you're going to re-take the CCNA (it's your only option) I recommend that you orient yourself with the new objectives, as some material has been added and other material removed since you took it.
