Question About CCNA Sybex Book

reeves122reeves122 Member Posts: 29 ■□□□□□□□□□
Hi guys!

I have a CCNA Sybex book that is the deluxe edition I think printed in year 2003. (ISBN: 9780782143140) I wondered if I should go ahead and purchase the newest edition (2005) since it's around $30-40. Just wondering if I'd be in trouble by studying an old edition for the exam. Thanks!

That book may be missing some topics for the test, but I wouldn't go buy a brand new book if you already have one. The core material of the test will be on the delux edition book. You can download the PDF's for the topics not covered. I'm not sure what all isn't covered in delux edition. NAT is one but not sure if there are others. With all the information on the internet, I wouldn't buy another book. Thats just my opinion though.
There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!

Hey I'm currently studying the CCNA 3rd edition Sybex PDF book by todd lammle.

This 2005 version you talk of as the latest... what is the name for it? would it be 4th edition? what would I be looking for...

    Thanks! :D

This is the ISBN of the newest (2005): 9780782143928

There is also a paperback version but I don't believe it comes with the software.

Do a search for that ISBN from Amazon.com or Half.com

Don't forget that this book doesn't cover NAT in enough detail. Go elsewhere for NAT.

The book I like most for CCNA is: http://www.quepublishing.com/title/0789735199

If you buy the 5th edition or newer CCNA book by Lammle (Sybex) the supplemental CD has an entire chapter on NAT.

Also, if you visit the Sybex site, it does give the missing chapter on NAT http://www.sybex.com/WileyCDA/SybexTitle/productCd-0782143911,navId-290611,pageCd-resources.html and some stuff on OSPF as well...

It also provides corrections to mistakes or exclusions...http://www.sybex.com/WileyCDA/SybexTitle/productCd-0782143911,navId-290611,pageCd-errata.html

The paper back version does come with the cd, and you dont have to pay 40 for the book. I spent 20-25 i think for a like new one off of amazon. Just got it today, its in perfect condition and cd had never been opened.
