How much of a difference does this test cover verse the other two? Should I just wing it and take it or buy a book on it and study up?

I would get a book and study before you take 270. There is some crossover from 271 and 272 but there are some topics that are not covered. Also check out the objectives on Microsoft's website. Good luck on the exam!

Microsoft Press, then I normally back them up with Sybex- this method has yet to fail me.

If you can, I would cancel the MSPress for 70-293 and pick up Syngress instead. It is well known that the MSPress for 70-293 is horrible.
