CCNA Pass

in CCNA & CCENT
Greetings everyone! Just wanted to drop a line and let you all know I passed yesterday with a 949, first attempt. I bought the Cisco INTRO/ICND books on June 13th (2.5 weeks) and have been pretty much just reading these books, doing the pre-chapter and follow-up questions and exercises, and doing the included practice exams from the CD, while taking notes in a Wiki. The regiment seems to have worked for me!
I have really only had difficulty with the show/debug commands. I had a decent amount of prior hands-on router experience, but was NEVER able to memorize what show or debug commands give what particular piece of information. This really bit me in the ass when I was presented with a Simlet... and, as Mike explains below, I was given limited command line access to some equipment so I could find out the information I needed to answer the questions. With enough fumbling with show commands, I eventually figured it out. I spent 22 of my 90 minutes on ... this ... one ... question. I thought I was totally f'd. Word of advice: study those show/debug commands, and be fast with them!

Damn you spent that much time on one question and still had enough time to finish>? WOW!
Well very nice score indeed. Thanks for the tipsThere is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1! -

Congratulations!
You divulged to much exam question information -- so I edited it out.
It sounds like you had a Simlet -- the Simlet gives you limited command line access to some sort of equipment so that you can issues commands to find out the information you need to answer the questions. A Testlet usually just has text/graphic information about a scenario, and you might get additional information as part of each testlet questions.
The more hands on practice you do for the exams the easier it is to remember what's in the output.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -

Congrats on the pass! I also took mine today and passed. I'm presuming we both took the same test today and if so, I know exactly which simlet you're referring to! It took me a few minutes to work it out.
Anyway what are your plans now? -

Congrats to both of you on your accomplishment!
Good luck n the next one.I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.
