Hi,
Just been running through some CCNA tests and missed the 'vlan database' step when creating a vlan on a 2950. When I do this on a real switch (12.1(22)EA8a) I get the message:
% Warning: It is recommended to configure VLAN from config mode,
as VLAN database mode is being deprecated. Please consult user
documentation for configuring VTP/VLAN in config mode.
Which is why I 'automagically' created the vlan via config. i.e. if you enter 'switchport access vlan xx' it creates the vlan into the database.
What appears on the 640-801 test?

Fugazi1000,
Due to the Cisco Career Certifications and Confidentiality Agreement that every Cisco exam taker is required to agree to prior to taking a Cisco exam prohibits them from answering your question. This agreement applies to those who both passed and failed their Cisco exam. The only way to find an answer to your question is to go take the 640-801 CCNA exam. Be advised that since you will be bound by the terms of the Cisco Career Certifications and Confidentiality Agreement, you will also be prohibited from replying to this thread to report your findings.

I have seen this on a 2950 as well, but we continued to create the vlan via tha vlan database.
No idea what appears on the 801 test yet though.Brake lights are a sign your car doesn't handle well enough.

Quite harsh I thought!
I was referring to the public domain/ Cisco Press CCNA Flash Card tests so not breaching any policy there. If I phrased the 'what appears on the test' bit badly then I apologise, I am merely asking what others would think is the right approach, NOT what the answer is (as I suspect only Cisco exam setters actually know). -

i can't tell you what appears on the test but i can tell you that the command is being phased out of use on the switches in favor of doing the vlan configurations in global configBecome the stainless steel sharp knife in a drawer full of rusty spoons -

Rearden Member Posts: 222We never use the vlan database command on the 3560s here. The IOS seems to support it, but I don't see why you'd ever use it over the global config commands.More systems have been wiped out by admins than any cracker could do in a lifetime.
