Cisco 2950 show commands - ISSUE RESOLVED UPDATED SOLUTION

I searched for an answer on this here in the forums and I could not find one...

I am using a 2950 in my lab but for some reason the output from the show commands in the book (Odom, latest print) and the output from my switch are totally different. Is this a IOS version issue... I am running:
2950A#show ver
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) C2950 Software (C2950-I6Q4L2-M), Version 12.1(6)EA2c, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

2950A uptime is 27 minutes
System returned to ROM by power-on
System image file is "flash:c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-6.EA2c"

That seems to be the same version in the book... 12.1
2950A#show spanning-tree

VLAN1 is executing the ieee compatible Spanning Tree protocol

Timers: message age 0, forward delay 0, hold 0
Number of transitions to forwarding state: 1

2950A#

That seems to be totally off from what the book shows for a "show spanning-tree" command...
I know it gives the same info but I just wanted to be able to get familiar with the output of these screens for the exam. That is one of the main reasons I got the equipment to begin with... any help guys?

Is it because I need Enterprise version? I cant find the thread, but I remember someones posting stated you need to have Enterprise version on your routers ... ? Could that be it?

I got it... It was an issue of IOS versions. Downloaded new IOS from Cisco and here is the difference from both screens above. :)

And then the show spanning-tree.... phew... what a difference! :D

Now I don't have it hooked up like I did in the first posting but you get the idea... the layout was totally different... ;)

I thought you had to pay or be authorized to download the IOS versions. Are you doing it thru work or is there some student rate?
studying on 70-290, 70-291 and CCNA.

Most switch IOSs, if not all, are free. Router IOSs you have to pay for authorization to download.
