Hey guys, I want to upgrade the bootrom on my 2514 in order to upgrade the IOS to 12.3, but I am a bit confused. I know I need at least 10.2 bootrom for that purpose, but when I do a show ver, I get two different numbers: 5.2 and 10.2. I would appreciate if someone clarifies the difference between the two and would I need to upgrade the bootrom. Many thanks!

From your show version output, I'd say you can upgrade to 12.3.
Just backup your current image, switch to confreg 0x2101 and give 12.3 a try, assuming of course you have enough flash and ram.

Thanks, I have the RAM and Flash 16/16 so I'll try loading 12.3.

Be careful with 12.3 for the 2500... may not have IGRP which is something you need to know for the CCNA. I downloaded 12.3 from ciscos site and I had to go down to the old 12.0 I had when I first started bc it didnt have IGRP as a routing protocol...
